Patna : India were all out for 365 in 114.4 overs in the first session of play on Day 3 in their first innings in 4th test against England at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on March 6, 2021, as spinners Washington Sundar and Axar Patel added 106 runs for the 8th wicket. Sundar remained unbeaten on 96 in 174 balls with 10 fours and 1 six. Sundar was involved in two century partnerships. HeĀ  had added 113 runs with Rishabh Pant (wk) for the 7th wicket on Day 2.

Axar was run out for 43 in 97 balls with 5 fours and 1 six making it 365/8. At the same score, India lost the wickets of Ishant Sharma and Mohd Siraj too leavingĀ  Sundar stranded at 96 not out. Fast medium bowler Ben Stokes took 4/89 in 27.4 overs.

India were 121/5 after 50 overs. But, the last five wickets added 244 runs. Resuming at their overnight score of 294/7, Sundar and Axar added 71 runs in the first session of play on Day 3. India took a first innings lead of 160 runs.

England, who were all out for 205 in their first innings, were 6/0 in 3 overs at lunch trailing by 154 runs.
