Patna : India were all out for 283 in 105.5 overs in the second session of the play on day 3 in their first innings in the second test against Australia at Perth Stadium, Perth, Australia, on December 16, 2018, riding on a brilliant 123 in 257 balls with 13 fours and a six, his 25th test century, by captain Virat Kohli, 51 in 105 balls with 6 fours and a six by Ajinkya Rahane, and 36 in 50 balls with 2 fours and a six by wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant. India trail by 43 runs. Australia were all out for 326 runs in their first innings.
Resuming at their overnight score of 172/3, India lost their fourth wicket on 173 with Rahane getting out to spinner Nathan Lyon for 51. Kohli then added 50 runs for the 5th wicket with Hanuma Vihari, who fell to Josh Hazlewood for 20 when the score was 223. Kohli fell to Pat Cummins when the score was 251. Wicketkeeper Pant added 25 runs with Umesh Yadav before falling to Lyon for 36. Pant hit Lyon for a four and a six in his 33rd over. The last wicket of Jasprit Bumrah fell on 283.
For Australia, Lyon took 5/67 while Mitchell Starc took 2/79 and Josh Hazlewood 2/66. Pat Cummins took 1/60. Starc was bowling at over 150km speed.
Australia were 1/0 after 2 over in their second innings increasing their lead to 44 runs.
