Patna :  India were all out for 250 in 48.2 overs in the 2nd ODI against Australia at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium, Nagpur, on March 5, 2019, with captain Virat Kohli scoring a superb but sedate 116 in 120 balls with 10 fours, his 40th ODI century in 224 innings, and Vijay Shankar scoring 46 (run out) in 41 balls with 5 fours and a six. Kohli added 81 runs with Vijay Shankar for the 4th wicket. He also added 67 runs all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja for the 7th wicket. Both Kohli and Jadeja fell to fast bowler Pat Cummins. Australia won the toss but opted to bowl.

India made disastrous start to their innings losing the wicket of opener Rohit Sharma for zero in the first over making it 0/1. Sharma fell to Pat Cummins. Shikhar Dhawan fell to Glen Maxwell for 21 making it 38/2. Kedar Jadhav and wicketkeeper M S Dhoni fell to spinner Adam Zampa on successive balls with 171 on board making it 171/6. Indian batsmen including Kohli could never dominate the bowling.

For Australia, Pat Cummins took 4/29 in 9 overs while Adam Zampa took 2/62 in 10 overs. Nathan Coulter-Nile, Nathan Lyon, and Glen Maxwell took one wicket each.
