Patna : India were 74/8 in 26.5 over in the first ODI against Sri Lanka at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala, HP, on December 10, 2017, with M S Dhoni natting on 28 in 40 balls hitting 5 fours while and Jasprit Bumrah was yet to score. Chinaman bowler Kuldip Yadav was out for 19 hitting 4 fours.

Sri Lanka won the toss but elected to field first. India made a disastrous start losing both the openers Rohit Sharma, the Captain, and Shikhar Dhawan with the score reading two. Both Dhawan and Dinesh Kartik failed to score while Rohit made two and all rounder Hardik Pandya 10. S Ayer made 9. It was India’s worst performance in recent years. For Sri Lanka, seamer Suranga Lakmal had taken 4/13 in 10 overs while N Pradip had taken 2/26 in 7 overs. Angelo Mathews had taken 1/8 in 5 overs.
