Patna : Resuming at their overnight score of 273/3, India reached 356/3 in 113 overs at lunch on Day 2 in their 1st innings in 2nd test against South Africa (SA) at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune, on October 11, 2019, with captain Virat Kohli unbeaten on 104 in 183 balls hitting 16 fours, his 26th century, and vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane batting on 58 in 161 balls with 8 fours.

Kohli hit pacer Vernon Philander for four to reach his 26th century in 173 balls, the first in last 11 innings. Kohli has taken 138 innings to score his 26th test century. Sachin Tendular had taken 136 innings to score his 26th century. It is Kohli’s 19th test century as captain.

Kohli and Rahane have so far added 158 runs in 316 balls in an unbroken partnership for the 4th wicket, the highest 4th wicket partnership against SA. India scored 83 runs in the first session of play on Day 2 without losing any wicket.
