Patna : Opener Rohit Sharma, the Hit-Man, scored 176 in 244 balls with 23 fours and 6 sixes- three each off  spinners Keshav Maharaj and Dane Piedt – as India reached 324/1 in 88 overs at lunch on Day 2 in their  first innings in the 1st test against South Africa (SA) at Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam, on October 3, 2019.

Rohit fell to spinner Keshav Maharaj but not before adding 317 runs for the first wicket with Mayank Agarwal, who was unbeaten on 138 in 270 balls with 16 fours and 3 sixes, his maiden test century. It was highest partnership for any wicket in India vs SA tests. Cheteswar Pujara was unbeaten on 6.

Rohit added 61 runs to his unbeaten 115 at stump on October 2,2019, before getting out on Day 2 just before lunch break. Rohit hit Maharaj for a six and a four in the over he got out (stumped).
