Patna : India were 215/2 in 89 overs at stumps on day 1 in their first innings in the 3rd test against Australia at Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne, Australia, on December 26, 2018, with Cheteshwar Pujara batting on 68 in 200 balls with 6 fours and captain Virat Kohli batting on 47 in 107 balls with 6 fours adding 92 runs for the third wicket so far.
Fast bowler Mitchell Starc bowled a fiery last spell reaching up to 150.4 kph speed but failed to get any wicket. Kohli was dropped by his counterpart and wicketkeeper Tim Paine in the 87th overs bowled by Starc. Australia have taken the second new ball.
Electing to bat after winning the toss, India lost opener Hanuma Vihari’s wicket when the score was 40. Although Vihari scored only 8 runs, he faced 66 balls. But, his opening partner Mayank Agarwal, who is making his test debut, used his feet well against spinner Nathan Lyon and also tackled the fast bowlers well to score 76 in 161 balls with 8 fours and a six. Mayank Agarwal added 83 runs with Pujara for the second wicket.
