Patna : India were 168/2 in 53 overs at tea in their first innings in the 2nd test against South Africa (SA) at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Puna, on Day 1 on October 10, 2019, with opener Mayank Agarwal unbeaten on 86 in 171 balls hitting 15 fours and Captain Virat Kohli yet to score.

India lost one wicket that of Cheteswar Pujara in the second session of the play. Pujara fell to fast bowler Kagiso Rabada for 58 in 112 balls with 9 fours and a six. Pujara and Agarwal added 138 runs for the second wicket. Opener Rohit Sharma fell to Rabaga for 14 in the first session of the play. India scored 91 runs in the second session of the play.
