Patna : India were 156/6 after 48 overs in their 2nd innings at lunch on Day 3 in 2nd test against England at M A Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai, Tamilnadu, on February 15, 2021, as captain Virat Kohli and spinner Ravichandran Ashwin have so far added 50 runs in their unbroken partnership for the 7th wicket of which the latter has scored 34 runs. At lunch, Kohli was unbeaten on 38 in 86 balls hitting 5 fours while Ashwin was batting on 34 in 38 balls with 5 fours negotiating the spinner quite well. India lead by 351 runs.

India added 102 runs in the first session of the play on Day 3 but also lost 5 wickets including that of Chetesjwar Pujara (7), opener Rohit Sharma (26), Rishabh Pant (10), Ajinkya Rahane (10), and Axar Patel (7).

Resuming at their overnight score of 54/1 in 18 overs, India lost the wicket of Pujara in 19th over. Pujara was run out making it 55/2. At the same score, Rohit was stumped by Ben Foakes (wk) off the bowling of spinner Jack Leach for 26 in 70 balls with 2 fours and 1 six and it was 55/3. Pant also fell to Leach for 8 making it 65/4. Rahane fell to spinner Moeen Ali for 10 and it was 86/5. Axar Patel also fell to Moeen Ali for 7 making it 106/6.
