Saharsa : The condition of Babulal Maurya, 30, sitting on indefinite fast with some others since February 19, 2017, to press their demand for construction of a Mahasetu over river Kosi at Dhengrahighat, under Salkhua block in Saharsa district, has started deteriorating. Saharsa BDO Vibhesh Anand has sent an SOS to sub-divisional officer (SDO) Suman Prasad Sah in this connection.

On February 27, former deputy chairman of Saharsa District Board (DB) Ritesh Ranjan and former DB member Pravin Anand along with 18 women also joined the indefinite fast. BDO Anand said that a doctors’ team has examined the condition of Maurya and others. The condition Maurya and Nageshwar, 75, is not good. Babulal hails from Dumaria in Khagaria district. The SDO and DSP Ajay Narain Mandal had visited venue of fast twice and urged Babulal Maurya to call of his indefinite fast bust in vain.

Khagaria LJP MP Chaudhary Mehboob Ali Qaiser has also met those on fast to show his solidarity with them. Hundreds of people of Kosi riverine belt and Farkia area have joined fast.
