Muzaffarpur : A widow Ranju Devi died and her 16 year old daughter Kajal was seriously injured when a  truck carrying coal dashed the bike they were riding near Lord Buddha Medical College Hospital, Baidyanathpur, on Saharsa –  Madhepura NH 107 on February 27, 2017.

Ranju Devi died on the spot while a seriously injured Kajal was rushed to Saharsa Sadar hospital. Surprisingly, bike driver Mohd Alam disappeared from the scene leaving Ranju Devi’s body and injured Kajal on the spot. Police seized the truck and arrested its driver.

Ranju Devi and Kajal had come to Lord Buddha Medical college Hospital, Baidyanathpur, from Beldaur in Khagaria district, for treatment, according to Kajal. While coming out of the hospital, Ranju Devi spoke to Alam, a native of Sihaul in Saharsa district, who was standing on the hospital premises with his bike, Kajal said. Alam gave them lift on his bike and they had covered some distance when the truck dashed the bike crushing Ranju Devi to death on the spot while Kajal fell unconscious due to injury.

Baidyanathpur police outpost incharge Prabhunath Singh reached the spot and sent the body and an injured Kajal to Sadar hospital. Singh was surprised at the disappearance of Alam. He said things would be clear after investigation.
