I can lay down my life to stop eve teasing : Patna SSP

Patna: Senior SP (SSP), Patna,  Mannu Maharaaj got emotional on January 30 afternoon after a group of girls students met him at his office and thanked him for his tough stance against Road Romeos. They also handed over a bouquets to him.

A sentimental SSP immediately announced that he would stop eve teasing at any cost. “Jaan de kar bhi cherkhani rokenge (I can lay down my life to stop eve teasing),” he told the girls. The cops at the district police headquarters near Gandhi Maidan were stunned to see dozens of girl students at SSP office. They stopped the girls  from  proceeding any further and asked them for the reason behind their visit. The girls said that they had come to meet the SSP.

The SSP obliged the girl and asked them to come to his office. All the girls went inside SSP office and handed him  bouquets and said `thanks’. Mannu Maharaaj was first surprised over the girls’ bold step and inquired from them about their intentions. The girls said they are thankful to him for his steps to check Road Romeos in the city. “Aapne jo  kaam kiya hai, wo sarahaniya hai (the steps taken by you is highly appreciable),” they said adding that  now-a-days Road Romeos are not seen around girls’ colleges. They urged him to continue his tough stance against such elements.

“Main wada karta hum ki jan de denge, lekin kisi bhi kimat par cherkhani nahi hone denge,” the SSP said adding that if the cops were found wanting in duty, they would be taken to task. It may be mentioned here that recently two youth were arrested by Patna Police for molesting two sisters on busy Boring Road and dragging one of the sisters to some distance. Though the girls reached Buddha Colony police station to register a complaint, they were shooed away from there by a sub-inspector (SI) rank officer, who was later suspended.
