Patna : World No 6 in  Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings P V Sindhu, 23, India, crashed out of Yonex All England Badminton Championships 2019, a BWF World Tour 1,000 points tournament, losing to World No 10 Sung Ji Hyun, 27, South Korea, in the first round in the women’s singles at Arena Birmingham, England, on March 6, 2019. The tournament got underway on March 6.

Hyun beat Sindhu, a silver medallist at 2016 Olympic Games at Rio de Janeiro, in a tough contest 21-16, 20-22, 21-18 in 1hr 21 minutes in the first round. Hyun won 62 rallies in the match to 56 by Sindhu, silver medallist at 2017 (Glasgow) and 2018  (Nanjing) World Championships. Hyun won 8 consecutive points in the match 5 by Sindhu. Sindhu still leads Hyun 8-7 head to head.
