Hundreds of entrepreneurs inclined to set up units on BIADA plots

Bokaro ( Jharkhand) : Hundreds  of  entrepreneurs have shown keen interest in setting up their  industrial units in Dhanbad and Giridih as Bokaro Industrial Area development Authority (BIADA) has offered 58 industrial plots to interested parties. At present  44 plots of different sizes  (31 in Sindri and 13 in Kandra), both in Dhanbad districts,  and 14 plots  in Sihodih (Giridih) are  available for setting up industrial  units.

It may be mentioned here that BIADA looks after industrial growth and  development of three districts: Dhanbad, Bokaro and Giridih. It has till date allotted more than 720 industrial plots in these three districts but recently found that 44 plots in Dhanbad and 14 plots in Giridih were lying unutilized. BIADA sources  informed that various sizes of plots  have been kept for allotment  of which the  biggest chunk of land in these two districts is  spread over an area of 15,000 square feet while the smallest size of plot is only of  1,306 square feet.

On direction of the then Industry secretary, Jharkhand,  Himani Pandey,  former MD of BIADA   and present Deputy Commissioner of  Girdih Uma Shankar Singh had started  physical verification of  every industrial plots of BIADA running in Dhanbad, Giridih besides  Bokaro districts whose videography was also done after which more than 176 plots including 90 plots in Bokaro were found either unused or partially used. After physical verification, as several units  were found to be non-functional, notices were served on these units by BIADA MD asking them to vacate the plots which are now ready for fresh allocation.

BIADA sources informed that several reputed firms having expertise in iron & steel, lubricants, furniture, packaging, making nut, volts and screws, ply boards and other industrial units have shown interest in establishing  their industrial units  on BIADA plots in Dhanbad and Giridih districts. MD, BIADA, R M Ray stated that the entrepreneurs must grab this opportunitywhich will not only boost industrial development of this zone but will also generate  employment to thousands of locals both directly and indirectly.

He, however, he added that  industrial plots will be given only to those parties who are genuinely interested in establishing their industrial units  and will not be allotted to those who take plots but do not utilize it as seen in the past. “ In view big demand for land, we are in search of more vacant plots for industrial use for which  Giridih and Dhanbad deputy commissioners have been requested  to identify such plots having road connectivity.We will create land bank in all three districts,” said MD, BIADA.
