Ara : Government Railway Police (GRP), Buxar, seized human skulls and some skeletons from gunny bags at Buxar railway station under Danapru division of East Central Railway (ECR), Hajipur, on February 17, 2018, and also arrested skeleton smuggler Toofani Dom, son of Mahendra Dom of Civil Line area under Buxar Town police station in Buxar district. The seizure of skeletons and skulls triggered sensation in the area.
SHO, GRP, Buxar, Kamlesh Rai, said that he got information that a person was trying to smuggle skulls and skeletons. As he was to board a train at Buxar railway station, police arrested him and seized 24 skulls and some skeletons packed in gunny bags. He said that the arrested human skeleton smuggler confessed that he collects human skeletons from Buxar crematorium and the banks of river Ganga and sells them in different towns of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh at high prices.
Bihari Dom, brother of the skeleton smuggler, said that Toofani Dom was going to Ara to hand over the human skeletons and skulls to another skeleton smuggler. He also revealed that these skulls and skeletons are smuggled even to China. Sources said that a human skeleton smuggler was arrested in year 2007 too but a former MLA of the area allegedly got him released.
