Ara : High Security Registration Plate (HSRP) is now mandatory for all types of vehicles otherwise a fine of Rs 1,000 will be slapped on the erring vehicle owners. Patna High Court has issued direction to the State Transport Department in this regard and authorised police and the officials of the Transport department to check it.

District Transport Officer (DTO), Bhojpur, Madhav Kumar Singh said that the government with the view to checking rising incidents of vehicle theft and also raise the revenue, had made HSRP mandatory in Bihar. He said it is a kind of number plate that will connect the vehicle with network and in case of theft, it would be easy to locate the vehicle. All the numbers of the plate are evenly written which is readable even during night. The number plate is covered with a laser code which contains all records of the vehicle owner and a blue coloured sticker with chassis number of the vehicle is also pasted on the number plate. All such information is secured at the central server.

The DTO said that HSRP has been made mandatory in Bhojpur district and the vehicle owners failing to attach the HSRP to their vehicle would be penalised.
