Bagaha : A large number of workers of Hindu Yuya Vahini (HYV)  staged a day long dharna before Bagaha SDM’s office on June 19, 2018, and raised several issues concerning the farmers and criticised the raw deal being given to them both by both the state and central governments. They said that the economic activities of the sugarcane growers had come to a grinding halt due to non-payment of their arrears by the sugar factories. This had forced the farmers to sell their wheat at a very low price, the claimed.

The HYV activists said that the farmers were not even in a position to undertake to ongoing kharif cultivation for want of money. The claimed the supply of water to all three canals, which originate from Gandak barrage, Valmikinagar, was yet to be restored for irrigation pupose. They said that the sugarcane, maize, and vegetable crops are withering as farmers were unable to purchase diesel due to its soaring price.

HYV state President Alok Mayank ‘Baba’ said that condition of farmers was a cause of serious concern. A delegation led by Alok Mayank and Vinay Kumar Pandey met SDM, Bagaha, Ghanshyam Meena and submitted a memrandum to him listing HYV’s demands.
