Bagaha : A herd of Nepali elephants  was spotted under Harnatand Forests Range in Valmikinagar  Tiger Reserve (VTR) in West Champaran district on April 24, 2019, morning.

The elephants numbering 8 including three calves entered Indian territory from Nepal side on April 24, 2019, morning, said VTR Director cum Conservator  Hemkant Rai. Rai said that all the people residing in and  around VTR had been  alerted  about the entry of Nepali elephants.

A four-member team of forest personnel has been created  to monitor the activities of  Nepali elephants. Rai said that herd of Nepali elephants stray into Bihar occasionally.  Nepal’s Chitawan National Park officials have been informed  about the entry of these elephants into Bihar and requested to take them back, Rai said.
