Patna : World No 49 Pierre- Hugues Herbert, 28, France, stunned World No 6 Kei Nishikori, 29, Japan, in the 2nd round of Monte-Carlo Masters, Monaco, a clay court event, on April 17, 2019. Herbert beat Nishikori 7-5, 6-4 in 1 hr 42 minutes  to enter the 3rd round of the tournament. Herbert fired 7 Aces in the match to 2 by Nishikori. Herbert also won 2 break points besides winning 3 games in a row. Herbert will face World No 13 Borna Coric, 22, Croatia, in the Round of 16.

World No 5 Dominic Thiem, 25, Austria, also entered the 3rd round after defeating World No 50 Martin Klizan, 29. Slovakia, ,6-1, 6-4 in 1 hr 24 minutes in the 2nd round winning 4 break points. Both the players fired 4 Aces each in the match. Thiem also won 4 games in a row in the match.
