Patna: A single bench of Patna high court presided by Justice Hemant Kumar Srivastava on Thursday granted bail to Independent MLA from Mokama in Patna district Anant Singh in a case lodged with Kotwali police station, Patna, in 2016 alleging his involvement in an incident of threat, assault and theft. Anant Singh was in jail when the crime took place.
Senior advocate P K Shahi represented Anant Singh in the case. AAG Suryadev Yadav appeared from the government side. Amar Jyoti Sharma represented informant Navin Kumar.
On October 4, 2016, the court of District and Session judge ( incharge), Patna, Anup Sinha, had granted him bail in a threat and extortion case lodged with Pirbahore, Patna, police station in August, 2016. Singh would, however, remain in jail as the Patna district administration has booked him under Crime Control Act.
