Hazaribagh ( Jharkhand ) : In an incident of gang war in Hazaribagh on May 31, 2017, four  criminals fired more than 40 rounds from their AK 47 on Lakhan  Sao, husband of Hazaribgh District Board (DB) chairman Sushila Devi, and his driver Dharmendra Singh. Several bullets hit the duo, who were in an SUV, injuring them seriously. Sao and his driver, who were profusely bleeding,  were rushed to Ranchi in critical condition.
The incident took place  on Barakagaon—Hazaribagh highway near Sardar road around 11 am when Sao and his driver were returning . to Hazaribagh city from Barkagaon. The criminals, who were apparently waiting for them, criminals  suddenly appreared on the  main road  from a bush  and
started firing indiscriminately  from very close range hitting their targets several times.  Assured of  having hit the targets, they escaped on a two-wheelers  unchallenged raising questions on security  in Hazaribagh areas.
Police found more than 30 rounds of used cartridges lying on the road clearly showing how well prepared the shooters were  who had information about movement of Lakhan  Sao who also has criminal antecedent and had allegedly worked for Sushil Srivastav gang but later left the gang and got his wife elected as district board chairman.
Hazaribagh SP Anup Birtharwe  said that police had sealed the entire exit and entry point of the district and were conducting raids to nab the  criminals.
