Ara: A  month long handicraft workshop was organized Upendra Maharathi Shilp Anusandhaan Kendra, Patna, with a view to develop handicraft arts under the Skill Development Mission Programme on the campus of Sai International School, Ara.  With a view to developing handicrafts, an exhibition of the products made during the workshop was held on Sunday. The workshop concluded on Saturday.

Altogether 30 women, who participated at the workshop, were imparted training in painting, sewing, designing, crafts, embroidery and Aplic work and Aplic dress designing. The trainees exhibited zari works, doormats, curtains, bed-sheets, carpets and other materials they made during their training.

Deputy Development Officer, Upendra Maharathi Shilp Anusandhaan Kendra, Vikas Kumar Sinha said that the craftspersons made the articles with precision. He directed the master trainer, Ruma Verma, to complete procedures  for establishment of cluster for the development of handicrafts in the area. Kajal Kumari, Goshia Akhtar and others, who underwent training at the workshop, said that they now know how o develop the handicraft as a trade.
