Ara : After a gap of ten years, elections to the Veer Kuer Singh University (VKSU) Senate was held on February 4, 2018, and the counting was completed on February 7, 2018. Altogether 24 candidates contested election for nine seats meant for teachers while five candidates contested election for the lone seat meant for non-teaching staff.

The H D Jain College, Ara, had an upper hand in the election as five candidates from the college  were elected as college teacher representatives in the Senate. One seat from the non-teaching staff also went to the candidate from the H D Jain College.

Post Graduate teacher representative candidate Ram Ranveer Singh defeated his rival Anil Kumar Singh by 18 votes. Ram Ranveer Singh polled 36 votes. But not a single candidate from the SC/ST category contested election to the two seats reserved for them. Chitranjan Singh of H D Jain College, Ara, got 428 votes and defeated his nearest rival Uday Ram by a margin of 309 votes.

From college category, Ahmad Masood, Neeraj Kumar, Diwakar Pandey, Sanjay Kumar Tripathi of H D Jain College, Awadh Bihari of Gram Bharti College, Ramgarh in Kaimur, in general category, Anuj Kumar of H D Jain College in SC category, Bechu Prasad Singh and Kumar Kaushlendra of Shershah College, Sasaram, under OBC category were successful in the election.

Vice Chancellor, VKSU, Sayyad Mumtazuddin thanked everyone for peaceful completion of Senate election and hoped election for the Students’ Union will also be conducted in peaceful manner. The VC inaugurated the office opened for conducting Students’ Union election on February 7. He said that that anyone can get information regarding the Students’ Union election from this office.
