Patna : Great Britain(beat Belgium 2-1 in a Group-C match at Sydney, Australia, in the 24-team inaugural ATP Cup on January 5, 2020. World No 42 Dan Evans, Great Britain, beat World No 11 David Goffin, Belgium, 6-4, 6-4 in 1hr 48 minutes in the decider to seal victory for his team.

World No 157 Steve Darcis, 35, Belgium, had earlier defeated World No 53 Cameron Norries, Great Britain, 6-2, 6-4 in 72 minutes to make 1-1. Great Britain had won the double match with Jammie Murray & J Salisbury defeating S Gille & J Vilegen, Belgium, 6-3, 7-6.

Germany beat Greece 2-1 at Brisbane, Australia, in another Group F match e with Andreas Mies & Kevin Krawietz defeating Michail Pervolarakis & Stefanos Tsitsipas ( Greece) in a three-set thriller 3-6, 6-3, 17-15 to clinch victory of their team. The German pair saved six match point in the cliff-hanger.

Earlier, World No 6 Stefanos Tsitsipas, Greece, had defeated World No 7 Alexander Zverev, Germany, 6-1, 6-4 in the singles to make it 1-1. It was Tsitsipas’ 5th straight win over Alexander Zverev. World No 35 Jan Lenard -Struff, Germany, had won the first match for Germany beating Michail Pervolarakis, Greece, 6-4, 6-1. Germany had lost their first group match to Australia.
