Patna: Bihar governor-cum-Chancellor Ram Nath Kovind while addressing the tenth convocation of Nalanda Open University (NOU) on Saturday stressed on increasing enrolment in instutions of higher education and highlighted the importance of distance education in this regard. He appreciated NOU for opening study centre at block level to take higher education to backward rural areas in Bihar.

The Chancellor also emphasised on character building among the students on the occasion. He  awarded Gold Medals to 28 students including 21 girls at the convocation.  Chancellor Kovind said that by holding examination and declaring results as per schedule, the NOU has joined the league of good universities. ” The 21st century is knowledge based century,” the governor said.

NOU VC Ras Bihari Sinha threw light on achievements of the university and spoke on its future projects. Director, National Technical Teachers Training and Research Institute, Chandigarh, M P Punia, asked the students to grab any opportunity which comes their way.
