Patna : Bihar Governor cum Chancellor of State Universities Lalji Tandon on May 16, 2019, directed the Vice-Chancellor (VC) of Magadah  University (MU), Bodh Gaya, to withhold salaries of 138 teachers and non-teaching employees of the university for not marking their attendance even for a single day through the Bio-metric system from November 2018 to January 2019 but had drawn their salaries. He asked the VC, MU, to stop their salary after conducting a thorough inquiry into the matter.

The Governor had earlier ordered for evaluation of attendance marked through the Bio-metric system in MU and colleges under it. It was found that while 138 teachers and non-teaching employees had not marked their attendance for three months through this system, 10 teachers and 47 non-teaching employees had not even enrolled themselves under the system.

Governor Lalji Tandon on May 16 reviewed the functioning of MU at Raj Bhavan. He directed the VCs of all the universities to ensure that the teacher and non-teaching employees mark their attendance through Bio-metric system.
