Gopalganj: Most wanted criminal of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar and an active member of Azad Hind Fauj Raju Singh Rathore had taken shelter in Gopalganj to find a safe ground for his organization.

A joint police teams of  East Champaran and Gopalganj had arrested two notorious gangsters including Raju Singh Rathore from a house in Sareya locality under Town police station on Wednesday in Gopalganj. Intelligence officials suspect Rathore was here to enrol youths for his organization and have alerted bot Gopalganj and East Champaran police.

If the officials of the Special branch are to be believed, Rathore had formed his organization to counter the naxals active in East  Champaran. He used to take shelter in Gopalganj after committing offences of serious nature in East  Champaran. After alert by the Special  branch, police team arrested Rathore. However, arrest of a local criminal with Rathore has alerted Gopalganj police. The East Champaran police have also taken initiative to arrest other members of the organization and sought Gopalganj SP’s assistance in it.

Police sources in Gopalganj revealed that local police interrogated Rathore and Gabbar Singh to get  information about other members of their organization. The cops also quizzed them about their arms including AK-47 and have started conducting raids at suspected hideouts of the organization.

Gopalganj SP Ravi Ranjan Kumar said that district police have been put on maximum alert after arrest of Rathore and his associate here. He said that several cases had been lodged against Rathore in East Champaran.

It may be mentioned here that Pakridayal Matasjivi Sahyog samiti (Motihari) secretary Bhikhari Sahni along with his wife Champa Devi and other family members were sitting in front of his house on August 26 evening this year when members of Azad Hind Fauz riding on bikes reached there and opened fire at them in which several people had sustained bullet injuries. Sahni, his wife Champa and a ward member Rajkishore died on way to hospital. Sahni’s garnd son Aryan alias Mantoo and his domestic help Sudan Mian had sustained serious bullet injuries. Sahni was earlier a member of naxal organization.
