Gopalganj: A Gopalganj court on January 24, 2017, issued non-bailable warrant (NBW) against DPRO, Muzaffarpur, Nagendra Kumar Gupta, in connection with a case related to alleged abuse of a RTI activist and getting his signature on aa blank paper at knife point. The court of Additional CJM-10 issued the non-bailable warrant against the DPRO.
It may be mentioned here that RTI activist and lawyer Naushad Alam had sought information related to alleged irregularities of government fund in 2013 from the then DPRO, Gopalganj, Nagendra Kumar Gupta under RTI Act, 2005. Gupta did not provide any information and even tried to placate him.
Alam alleged that Gupta called him to his office and abused him with the help of anti-socials. Gupta also forced Alam to sign blank papers at knife point. Later, Alam filed a petition in the local court seeking justice. The court took cognizance of the case and issued notice to Gupta to be present in the court. The court issued non-bailable warrant Gupta when he failed to appear in the court. In the meantime, Gupta was transferred to Muzaffarpur and is posted there as in-charge deputy director, IPRD.
