Gopalganj Contractor’s killers will be arrested within 48 hrs : DGP Pandey

Gopalganj : Bihar DGP Gupteshwar Pandey reached Rajendra Nagar locality at Gopalganj in Gopalganj District in North Bihar after mid-night on September 4, 2019, to meet the family members of Contractor Ramashankar Singh, who was recently burnt to death allegedly by some technocrats.

After meeting them, DGP Pandey declared that all accused of the case would be behind the bars within 48 hours.
Police are looking for Water Resources Department Superintending Engineer (SE) Jitendra Singh, Chief Engineer (CE) Murlidhar Singh, Executive Engineer (EE) Satyendra Kumar, and Kamini Singh, wife of the Chief Engineer, besides four
other unidentified accused, he said.
The  family members of Ramashankar Singh informed the DGP that ever after 7 days of the incident, none of the accused had been arrested.. DGP Pandey said that 48 hours time has been given to local police to arrest all the accused. He said that police would trace all the absconding engineers at any cost.

It may be mentioned here that Contractor Ramashankar Singh was allegedly burnt alive at the residence of CE Murlidhar Singh
on August 29, 2019. He succumbed to his burn injuries later while being shifted to a hospital. Official sources said that the  contractor had gone to CE Murlidhar Singh to seek clearance of his pending bills related to construction of a building.

Contractor’s son Rana Singh had, in his complaint, alleged that his father was set ablaze allegedly by the Chief Engineer, his wife, and six others when he had gone to Chief Engineer’s residence. Ramashankar Singh was rushed to the local hospital from where he was referred to Gorakhpur where he succumbed to his burn injuries. Apart from the CE Murlidhar, SE) Jitendra Kumar Singh, EE  Satyendra Kumar Singh have been named as accused in the FIR lodged with the Gopalganj Town police station in connection with the incident.

Replying to questions over rising incidents of crime, DGP Pandey shot back that there were petty incidents most of them related to land dispute. He said that such cases should be solved at SHO and CO level and it would check  75% of crimes. The
DGP further said that those trying to spread hatred and anti-social elements should be identified and arrested
to make the environment peaceful.
DGP was accompanied by Gopalganj SP Rashid Zaman, Sadar SDPO Naresh Paswan, Town Inspector Prashant Kumar Rai, and other senior police officials of the district.
