Ara : A named FIR was lodged with Agiaw Bazaar Police Station on July 14, 2017, against five persons for gangraping a 15 year old girl making her pregnant in March this year. The FIR was lodged on the statement of the girl. The matter was later transferred to Woman Police Station, Ara. But the accused are still moving scot free at the village while the survivor and her family members had to leave the village.
SHO, Woman Police Station, Poonam Kumari said that the five named accused: Chandra Bhushan Ram, son of Bigan Ram, Manikant Mahto alias Bakula, son of Lalit Mahto, Vikas Kumar Ram, son of Nand Ji Ram, Sunil Ram, son of Din Ram, and Jitendra Ram, son of Ram Bachan Ram of Agiaw village under Agiaw Bazaar police station, gagged the mouth the mouth of the girl, the 15 year old daughter of an Agiaw resident when she had gone to attend call of nature and took her to a secluded place after a fortnight of Holi festival in 2017. The accused stripped her off and outraged her modesty and also videographed the incident. They threatened her to kill her parents and also make the video public if she dared disclose the matter to anyone.
The girl, out of fear, did not say anything to anyone about the incident. In the meantime, she showed symptom of pregnancy and when her mother pressurized, she told her about the incident. Her mother took her to Primary Health Centre(PHC) for medical examination where the doctor confirmed her pregnancy. Her mother immediately rushed to Agiaw Bazaar police station and a named FIR was lodged against the five persons on the statement of the girl.
The girl’s father said the accused are very influential and have threatened him and his family members with dire consequences and so they had to flee the village. He said that one of the accused Manikant Mahto’s wife Rupa Devi is the Sarpanch of Agiaw panchayat and due to her influence police were hesitating to arrest the five accused.
