New Delhi : Girish Chandra Murmu , a 1985 batch IAS officer who resigned as Lt Governor of Union Territory of J&K recently, was sworn in as the Comptroller and Auditor-General (CAG) of India on August 8, 2020.

At a ceremony held on August 8, 2020, at 1030 am at the Ashoka Hall, Rashtrapati Bhavan, Girish Chandra Murmu was sworn in as the Comptroller and Auditor-General of India.  He made and subscribed to the oath of office before the President of India, according to a PIB release. Murmu, who hails from Odisha, will have a tenure up to November 20, 2024, according to a PIB release.

Murmu, 60, is the 14th CAG of India. He was the first Lt Governor of Union Territory of J&K.
