Giridih: Police seized 185 bottles of branded wine from a local cold drink shop at Chhotki Kharakdiha village under Bengabad police station in Giridih district on Wednesday afternoon. Giridih SP AB Variar, had a tip off regarding the activities of the liquor mafia across villages close to Jharkhand – Bihar border.

“Acting on the direction of our senior authorities, a police team led by Bengabad OC visited the place and recovered at least 185 sealed bottles of branded wine apart from huge quantities of countrymade liquor,” SDPO RK Mehta, who is also the spokesperson of the district police, said.

“During investigation we knew that the liquor was being mainly sold in portions of Bihar, where sale and purchase liquor is banned. They get good price for branded and sealed bottles that are passed to the border through inaccessible rural belt that ends near Bihar,” Mehta added.
