Patna: Gen Dalbir Singh Suhag, army chief, will attend the  75th Raising Day of Bihar Regimental Centre (BRC) at Danapur on November 19. Army and police jointly conducted a full dress rehearsal from Patna airport to Danapur on Friday. The programme will be attended by several retired army officials of BRC.

Danapur cantonment, which is considered the second oldest cantonment in India, will host the event. The BRC, which was formed with the recruitment of men from Bhojpur region in the early 18th century, was formally raised in 1941. Its officers and jawans had participated in world war II in Japan. During the Indo-Pakistan war of 1971, the BRC officers and men had captured Cox Bazar (now n Bangladesh) and in Kargil war, over 10,000 officers and jawans had defended Indian borders and recaptured many hills in Batalik sector in Laddakh region.
