Gaya police arrest Gadhani Panchayat Mukhia on Ganja smuggling charge

Ara : Gaya police, with the help of their Bhojpur counterpart,  arrested Taslim Arif alias Guddu, Mukhia, Gadhani panchayat under Gadhani police station in Bhojpur district, on August 2, 2019, late evening, in connection with Ganja smuggling and took him to Gaya with them. Police also seized his Scorpio.

SHO, Gadhani police station, Shazid, said that Gaya police arrested two Ganja smugglers : Sonu Pal of Narayanpur village under Kochas police station, and Dharmendra Yadav of Niranjanpur village in Rohtas district, from Aamas Toll Plaza under Aamas police station in Gaya district and also seized 120 kg of Ganja worth about Rs 60 lakh from their possession on August 1, 2019. On their revelation, police succeeded in arresting three more Ganja smugglers : Rohit Kumar alias Anil of Dhakani village under Chandi police station in Bhojpur district, Rahul Kumar of Nokha, and Ravikant Duney of Rajpur in Rohtas district, the SHO added.

During interrogation, the Ganja smugglers disclosed that Taslim Arif alias Guddu of Ara was the mastermind of the gang. On their revelation, Gaya police reached Ara and with the help of their Bhojpur counterpart arrested Taslim Arif from Gadhni despite strong protest by his supporters, who broke the gate of the Gadhani police station and tried to get the Mukhia free. Police had to resort to lathicharge to disperse the unruly mob, the SHO said.

The SHO said that the Mukhia Taslim Arif was earlier arrested in 2016 in connection with Ganja smuggling and was in jail for about 18 months. After his release from jail, he allegedly once again got involved in Ganja smuggling.
