Bettiah : Garima Shikaria was elected Chairperson and Qayum Ansari as deputy Chairperson of Bettiah Nagar Parishad (NP) on June 9, 2017, in a straight contest to the two posts. Zareena Khatoon was elected Chairperson of Bagaha Nagar Parishad while Radhey Shyam Tiwari was elected Chairperson of Narkatiaganj Nagar Parsishad. Both Zareena Khatoon and Radhey Shyam Tiwari were elected unopposed.
West Champaran district comprises three Nagar Parishads : Bettiah, Bagaha and Narkatiaganj. It is for the first time that the Chairperson of Bagaha Nagar Parishad has been elected unopposed.
