Buxar: River Ganga is flowing 55 cm over the danger mark in Buxar district keeping the district administration on their toes. The flood water entered several town areas forcing the residents either to keep themselves inside their houses or shift to safer places.

The flood water inundated Koirpurawa, Dhobi Ghat, Ram Bagh, Satyadev Mill and other areas on Saturday. The flood water is also flowing over the main road making communication difficult. The flood water has also posed threat to the  Kathhaiya bridge diversion which is the sole link between the main town and Buxar railway station. The flood also inundated three fourth areas of diara from Keshopur to Gangauli. People are moving to safer places on the old boats provided by the district administration risking their lives.

Flood water has entered the houses at Sri Kant Rai Ka Dera, Ram Das Rai ka Dera, Beni Lal ka Dera, Lal Singh ka Dera forcing the residents to migrate to safer places. The current of the flood water has put pressure on Buxar-Koelwar embankment and may inundate all the diara areas including Tilak Rai Ka Hata, Bhikshu Ke Dera, Thagani Ke Dera, Tekman ke Dera, Dada Baba ke Dera, Abhilakh ke Dera, Bigu Ke Dera, Garjan Pathak ke Dera within 24 hours. Over a dozen cattle were swept away in the current of the flood on Saturday. Buxar district administration has earmarked seven places for shelter for the flood affected people.

Ganga in spate has also led to the rise of water level above danger mark of Dharmawati, Karmnasha, Durgawati, Gauria rivers in Buxar district. Gaighara and Nagapur villages are completely marooned. The water of Ganga is flowing over 3 feet on Arak-Chakki, Dumari-Chakki main roads. The Chakki and Jawahi villages are completely marooned but the district administration has provided only two boats so far. Buxar DM Raman Kumar visited the flood affected villages and asked the officials to remain alert. He also directed them to take relief measures.
