Patna: With the arrest of two persons, Patna Police on January 31 claimed to have busted a gang engaged in sale of stolen products presenting them as products of reputed companies through OLX.
Police also recovered three stolen bikes, six cellphones, Rs 10,000 cash, a stolen computer set, one printer besides several documents including fake voter identity card and Aadhar card, said Patna Senior SP (SSP) Mannu Maharaaj here.
The SSP had been receiving inputs that a gang is engaged in selling stolen smart cellphones, stolen bikes and computer set in the name of reputed companies through OLX to customers by making receipts. Taking serious note of the incident, SSP constituted a police team with technical knowledge.Police team started collecting info about this gang and sought information from customers, who have been duped by its members. The members of the police team came to know that the gang members advertise on OLX about smartphones, stolen bikes and other commodities and provide them the customers.
The police team came to know that kingpin of the gang was reaching Saguna Mor under Danapur police station to collect cash from someone. Members of the police team in civies were deployed at Saguna Mor and they saw some people moving in suspicious manner. The team members became alert and trapped the kingpin Saros Akhtar alias Baba along with his another associate Lavkush Kumar from there.
Police said that during interrogation, the arrested persons revealed that there were two other members- Aamir Faiz alias Kaizy and Pinku alias Suraj alias Sheru. But, Pinku recently shot dead Aamir due to some money lending issue. A case had been lodged with the Khajekallan police station in this connection. They told police that they are in this fraudulent trade for the past one year.
