Patna: With the arrest of eight persons including kingpin of the gang under Operation Vishwash, Patna Police on January 28 claimed to have busted a gang of thieves. Police also recovered three countrymade pistols, five live  cartridges of 315 bore, two bikes, one scooty, an auto, four LED, one TV, three home theatres, 14 cellphones besides tools and instruments for breaking open locks, said Patna Senior SP (SSP) Mannu Maharaaj here on January 29.

The SSP had received information on his cellphone that members of loot/theft gang have assembled on Gola Road under Danapur police station and were planning to commit some crime. He immediately directed SDPO, Danapur, and Danapur ps SHO to verify the information and arrest the criminals.

A police team led by the two officials reached the spot and saw some youth escaping from there. Police arrested Viru Kumar,  Mithun Paswan, Pintoo Kumar, Babloo Kumar, Rakesh Kumar, Manjit Kumar, Sanjay Kumar and Munna Kumar, all from Deedarganj, Patna. The arrested youth told the police that there are 8-10 members in the gang.

During investigation, police came to know that earlier also they had committed crime in areas falling under the jurisdictions of several police stations under Patna City sub-division. They lived in a rented house at Gosain Tola under Danapur police station. The arrested youth admitted that they used to sell stolen bikes, TVs and other articles in different states.
