Chas (Bokaro) : The week-long programme of DPS Chas, Jharkhand, “Gandagi Mukt Bharat” concluded on October 6, 2020. More than 1,000 participants including students, parents, teachers, and staff participated in this campaign.
The theme of the programme was ‘Gandagi Mukt Bharat’ (For Classes II to V), Cleaning your garden (For Class VI), Maintaining personal hygiene (For Class VII), Cleaning your surroundings (For Class VIII), and Taking care of your Mental and Physical Stability by practicing Meditation, Yoga and Exercises (For Classes IX & X). Students explored their thoughts and imagination. They beautifully portrayed their perception with Colourful Paintings, Drawings, Slogan writings, Photographs, and Videos through virtual platform.
Dr. Hemlata S Mohan, Chief Mentor of DPS Chas, said, “India gained freedom under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhiji, but his dream of a clean India is still unfulfilled. Gandhiji had made cleanliness and sanitation an integral part of the Gandhian way of living. Cleanliness is most important for physical well-being and a healthy environment. It has bearing on public and personal hygiene. It is essential for everyone to learn about cleanliness, hygiene, sanitation, and contribute to make our country “Clean and Green” and as a citizen of India, it is our responsibility to fulfil the dreams of Bapu.”
Officiating Principal P Shailaja Jayakumar said, “The programme saw huge participation from different categories which was a remarkable step towards ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’. The campaign helped the students know the significance and relevance of cleanliness in their daily lives thereby making them confident and self-reliant.”
It may be mentioned here that ‘Gandagi Mukt Bharat’, a a national campaign, includes the promotion of health and sanitation programmes in the rural areas, cleaning roads and street, promoting and creating awareness on hygiene, and educating the people through various awareness programmes.
The students and staff of DPS Chas pledged to devote themselves for this great cause connecting people to the nature, to make the country clean thereby creating mass awareness.
