Ara : Bhojpur police, on a tip off, conducted raid at the Tribhuani Kothi tri-junction area under Nawada police station, Ara, on August 7, 2017, and arrested four smugglers along with 54 kg of Ganja, six mobiles and Rs 4,210 cash. Later, the arrested smugglers were sent to jail.

SDPO, Sanjay Kumar, said that during interrogation the arrested smugglers revealed that they were going to Aligarh in UP by Mahananda Express from Cooch Behar in North Bengal, about 142 km from Siliguri. They got down from the train at Ara railway station on the occasion of Rakshabandhan and were to leave Ara on August 8.

In another  incident, the SDPO said, police seized a Bolero and 71 bottles of IMFL on August 7 at Ara. Bhojpur SP Awkash Kumar had received information on August 6 that a big consignment of liquor was brought over to Ara. The SP immediately formed a team under the SDPO that laid trap to catch the liquor smugglers red handed.

The team located a Bolero but the driver and the liquor smugglers in the Bolero saw police and escaped from the scene leaving the vehicle behind. Police seized 71 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from the Bolero. He said that an FIR was lodged with Nawada police station against  the owner of the Bolero, the SDPO said.  Police are conducting raids to arrest the liquor smugglers.
