Gopalganj: Former MP and LJP national general secretary Kali Prasad Pandey on January 13 urged the state Home Department to take stern action against police officials allegedly harassing innocent people in Gopalganj district.

In a letter, addressed to the Home Department, Pandey said that police have failed to take any action in the kidnapping and subsequent killing of Upendra Pandey, a native of village Baliwan Sagar under Bishambharpur police station on November 30 night last year. He alleged that instead of taking any action, an SI rank officer of the said police station is humiliating the deceased’s family members causing resentment among the villagers.

The former MP said that one Anirudh Mishra was murdered in broad daylight at Dhebaba village under Gopalpur police station but the local police described it a case of accident. The killers are openly threatening the family members of the deceased after that, he said demanding a CBI probe into eight incidents of alleged police atrocity.
