Former Dhanbad Dy Mayor Neeraj Singh, 3 others shot dead

Dhanbad ( Jharkhand) : Neeraj Singh, 39, former Dhanbad deputy mayor and senior congress leader and nephew of former cabinet minister of Jharkhand Bachha Singh, was shot dead at 7.18 pm along with his three men including driver on March 21, 2017, in Dhanbad. More than  48 rounds were fired on their vehicle in the heart of city at Steel Gate Saraidhela. Dhanbad Bachha Singh had adopted Niraj Singh.

Two companies of paramilitary forces have been rushed to Dhanbad to control the situation as hundreds of people are rushing towards Dhanbad central hospital shouting slogans against BJP MLA  0f Jharia Sanjiv Singh, first cousin of  Neeraj, and his mother Kunti Singh alleging the duo got Neeraj killed. Fearing big tension, citizens of Dhanbad have gone indoors while Jharkhand DGP D K Pandey has asked Dhanbad SP R M Chauthe and coal belt DIG Saket Singh to maintain high alert. Jharkhand DGP confirmed that four persons including Neeraj, Ashok Yadav(close pal of Neeraj) besides his bodyguard and driver were shot dead.

An eyewitness R S  Singh told reporters that two persons  started firing most probably from AK-47 which hit the driver and Neeraj who were not even allowed to move an inch forward.“ All the four were shot dead and when the attackers were assured that they had hit their target, they escaped,” stated Singh cursing  administration for bad law and order. Jharia MLA Sanjiv Singh has been whisked away from city fearing attack on him. ADG R K Mallick also confirmed the killing of four persons.
