Gopalganj: The district police late on Friday night seized foreign liquor worth Rs  25 lakh when it was being smuggled to Bihar from neighbouring Uttar Pradesh. The seizure was made by a Kuchaikot police station le by its SHO Mahendra Kumar from Balthari check-post.

A police team was checking vehicles at Balthari check-post following the directive of Gopalganj SP Ravi Ranjan Kumar.  As the cops waved at two luxury vehicles to stop, the vehicles’ drivers sped away from there with cops following them, sources said. The SHO directed the railway crossing employees at Kairmani to close the rail gates. Seeing the gates closed, the drivers of the vehicles escaped from there leaving the luxury vehicles behind. As the cops searched the vehicles, they found 109 cartons of foreign liquor in the vehicles.
