Sitamarhi : The flood claimed two more lives in Sitamarhi district on August 13, 2017, increasing the death toll to three so far. Sanjiv Kumar, 18, a native of village Turkaulia drowned to death in flood water of river Lakhandei. In yet another incident of drowning, Govind Kumar, 14, a resident of village Mathapakar under Nanpur police station lost his life.
Meanwhile, three to five feet deep flood water is flowing at Bairgania block headquarters in Sitamarhi district due to breach in western embankment of river Bagmati on August 13 night. Rail and road communication have been disrupted.

The incessant rain for the last one week has disrupted road communication to several block headquarters. Flood water has overtopped Sheohar -Sitamarhi, Sursand-Sitamarhi, Sonbarsa-Sitamarhi,Bajpatti – Sitamarhi, Suppi – Sitamarhi and Majorganj – Sitamarhi roads. More than fifty villages have been affected by the flood.

Sitamarhi DM Rajiv Raushan visited food affected areas on August 13. Relief and rehabilitation works have been initiated in the flood affected areas.
