Nawada: There is bad news for tourists who had planned to visit the famous Kakollat waterfalls in Nawada district as flash floods in the wee hours on Monday washed away nearly 500 metres of the underconstruction approach road at village Mohra on Thali-Kakolat road under Govindpur police station of the district.

The water level increased by about 15 feet and swept away half-a-dozen makeshift hotels located at the base of the waterfalls. It also entered the government guest house and washed away most of the wooden chairs and tables, informed the waterfalls caretaker Jamuna Paswan.

Also on NH32 between Gaya and Rajgir, around 40 feet strip of the highway was washed away by the sudden upsurge in the local Paimar river on Monday. Road communication between Gaya-Hisua-Rajgir was totally disrupted. Officials have rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.

In another development, over two dozen commuters were admitted to Rajauli hospital as their Patna bound private bus from Kolkata rolled over into a roadside ditch near Rajauli Integrated Check post in the wee hours on Monday. The driver as well as the cleaner managed to slip away in the dark.
