Five members of gang of cellphone thieves arrested

Patna: Pirbahore police, Patna, arrested five members of a gang of cellphone thieves from different localities of the state capital. Three of the arrested persons were engaged in theft of cellphones while two of them are cellphone shop-owners, said Pirbahore police station SHO Nisar Ahmad on Tuesday.

Ahmad said that the arrested shop-owners used to change the EMI numbers of the stolen cellphones, which the gang members used to steal from different localities. He said that police recovered eight stolen cellphones from the possession of the arrested criminals. The SHO said that earlier, a thief was arrested after a cellphone was stolen and during investigation of the case, one more person was arrested and on his confession, later a police team arrested five members of the gang.
