Bokaro ( Jharkhand) : With a view to checking urban and  highway crime besides removing traffic snarls, Bokaro district administration has joined hands with major PSUs including Bokaro Steel Plant, banks, insurance companies, chamber of commerce  and Chas municipal corporation to install more than five dozen CCTVs  in Bokaro, Chas, Bermo, Petarwar, Chandrapura and at 11 major road crossings on National Highway 23  (Connecting Ranchi—Bokaro—Chas) and NH 32 (Connecting Purulia passing through Chas township up to Dhanbad).

Agreeing to the proposal initiated by Bokaro SP Y S Ramesh,  which was accepted by Bokaro deputy commissioner (DC) R M Ray, three MLAs of Bokaro district including Viranchi Narain (Bokaro),  Yogshwar Batul (Bermo) and Yogendra Mahto (Gomia)  have given a Rs 18 lakh for installation of   44 CCTVs. Virnachi has chipped in Rs 11 lakh , Batul has given Rs 5 lakh and Yogendra Mahto has given Rs 2 lakh from  their MLA local area development fund.

As per Bokaro SP Y S Ramesh these sophisticated CCTVs has cost Rs 2.5 lakh each which will be connected to Police control room(PCR) in Bokaro steel city, Chas township and Bermo for better law and order. Bokaro steel plant, DVC, Electrosteel, major public and private sector banks and insurance companies, coal companies, Bokaro chamber of commerce  and even Chas municipal corporation are cooperating with Bokaro police in installation of CCTVs which have started from City centre market (the commercial hub of Bokaro steel city).

The installation of these CCTVs will not only help in controlling crime but also keep watch on policemen on spot duty to find out whether they were allowing big vehicles to enter restricted zones, are absent from duty or chatting on mobile phones, informed SP Ramesh.
