Ara: Bhojpur District Magistrate Birendra Prasad Yadav inaugurated a five- day sports competition for school students and women by lighting candle at Ramana Maidan here on Sunday. The competition has been organized jointly by the Department of Arts, Culture and Youth Affairs and Bhojpur district administration. The competition will continue till July 7, 2016.
Speaking on the occasion, the DM said that sports is must for health and healthy development of mind and added that the government and the district administration were making every effort to improve sports condition in Bhojpur district including schools.
District Sports Officer Sanjay Kumar said that altogether 1,776 participants from 92 schools of Bhojpur district are competing in different events of the competition. He said Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Chess, Football, Athletics, Handball, Badminton and different styles of martial arts competition will be held at different playgrounds at Ara. A colourful cultural programme was also organized on the occasion.
