Gopalganj : Seven cops of Hathua police station in Gopalganj district, who had gone to village Rupanchak at 9 pm on  April 1, 2017, to arrest two persons: Mithilesh Sah and Kamlesh Sah, both brothers, in a case relating to dispute over measurement of land, were surrounded and attacked by angry villagers. Five cops sustained injury in the incident.

Later, SHO, Hathua police station, and other officials reached the village and brought the seven cops to Hathua and admitted the injured ones to the hospital. SHO, Hathua police station, Vimal Kumar Singh, that police had lodged an FIR against 29 named and 100 unknown residents of the village for attacking cops on duty. All the accused are absconding, the SHO said. Police also failed to arrest Mithilesh Sah and Kamlesh Sah.
