Gopalganj: An FIR has been lodged with Bhore police station in Gopalganj against a local doctor for allegedly making attempt to take out the kidney of a newborn child.

Gopalganj DM Rahul Kumar said that he had received complaints about the incident and had directed Civil Surgeon to constitute a medical board to carry out autopsy. Gopalganj Civil Surgeon Dr Madheshwar Prasad said that the way the abdomen of the  newborn was opened by the doctor indicates some fishy business. Though all the organs inside the baby were safe, the opening of the abdomen smells foul play, he added.

Police said that one Jitendra Kumar Bharti, a native of village Paroha in Dewariya in Uttar Pradesh, was married to Priya, a native of village Bhopatpura in Bhore, about three years ago. Priya became pregnant and was admitted to the clinic of Dr MM Ansari at Lalachapar Bazaar. Acting on the advice of Dr. Ansari, ultrasound of Priya was carried out.

Police said that on January 2, 2017, Priya was admitted to Dr Ansari’s clinic after labour pain. The hospital employees told Priya her baby is safe. However, Dr. Ansari told the family members that the newborn had died. The family members said that Dr Ansari handed over the body to them in a carton and they buried the body near river  Syahi.

The family members said that an employee of the hospital, who was present in the delivery room, told them on January 22 that Dr. Ansari had ripped open the stomach of the baby. The family members exhumed the body of the baby and informed the local police about it. An FIR has been lodged against Dr. Ansari on the statement of Jitendra Kumar Bharti. Bhore ps SHO Gautam Kumar said that police were investigating into the allegations.
